March 16, 2020 By

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott, and Ontario Labour Minister Monte McNaughton spoke with reporters on Monday about steps the province is taking to aid workers who are directly impacted by the ongoing efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Ford announced that his government intends to introduce legislation that, if passed, would immediately provide job-protected leave to employees in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19, or those who need to be away from work to care for children because of school or day care closures.

Ford announced that he will be waiving the provincial policy for requiring a doctor’s note for extended sick leave.
