Is Phosphorus the Reason We Haven’t Found Aliens Yet?

Extraterrestrial life in the universe might be rarer than scientists thought; here’s why.

“Astronomers have just started to pay attention to the cosmic origins of phosphorus and found quite a few surprises. In particular, P is created in supernovae—the explosions of massive stars—but the amounts seen so far don’t match our computer models.”

IMOHO this view is unnecessarily pessimistic. I mean, biologists have always known that phosphorus is essential for life. Just what have they discovered that they didn’t know before? A bacterium was discovered in 2010 that can live without phosphorus. Besides, we cannot be 100% certain about the amount of any element in a given region of space; there’s always a margin of uncertainty. Above all, we need to redefine “lucky.” As Life Everywhere author David Darling has stated: “What matters is not whether there's anything unusual about the Earth; there's going to be something idiosyncratic about every planet in space. What matters is whether any of Earth's circumstances are not only unusual but also essential for complex life. So far we've seen nothing to suggest there is.”

I think what you say that makes up 99% of the universe conflicts with what NASA reports? https://science.nasa.gov/astrophysics/focus-areas/what-is-dark-energy

are people this dumb they dont grasp the simple concept that space is big and our lifetime is short, the fact that when you look at distant stars you look back in time... how fucking pretentious are we to think that in this small slice of intelligent human history and the vastness of space we could even communicate with an alien species if such a species even exists. i mean it is beyond me how we set the bar for certain things without even taking into consideration the facts at a fundemental level. if life right now at this very moment exsist in a distant place lets say 3 billion light years away, how would we communicate, send a message wait 3 billion years for it to reach and another 3 billion years to come back and lets not forget that space is ever expanding so why do we assume to be alone simply because we dont recive radio waves... that's like living in siberia going outside looking as far as you can see and because you see no1 else you assume you're the only one alive on the planet how fkn pretentious is that?...btw radio waves travel at the speed of light so the first ever broadcast made by man i believe was in 1906 so as of today the furthest we have comunicated is only 112 LY away, now lets say there's a planet 112Ly away from us and today they hear the first radio broadcast, it will take another 112 years to recive the reply if they reply today... space is huge and most people dont seem to get that... im just saying the reason we herd nothing is maybe due to the vastness of space itself and also to assume that the only way we can know of alien is through radio emmissions is quite foolish.(edit) idk why videos like this makes me so mad but they do... sorry

Correct me if I'm wrong? I'm not an expert scientist.

    But, aren't aliens, aliens?
I mean, aliens are not humans, and for all we know, they could be nothing like us. Some could breath toxic air, others may not need to drink water, etc.
Do the elements we so need really apply the same to interstellar life, which could be nothing like us?
