Octopuses and cuttlefish through alien eyes

July 20, 2019 By

Octopus, cuttlefish and other cephalopods are masters of camouflage, and they may be the closest thing on Earth to alien intelligence.

To better understand them, a team of scientists took a one-of-a-kind camera to the South Pacific. Their goal: to see the ocean as no human has before.

In the Deep is a new series by Quartz on the wonders of our oceans and the intrepid scientists seeking to understand them. From the depths of the ocean to vibrant coral reefs, we follow a new generation of explorers using cutting edge technology to push the frontiers of human understanding.

Beautiful filming. But they were created as they are. With the knowledge of dna, evolution is debunked. How did a big bang create so many different forms of life? It's less than on par with saying a big bang could create a 747 airplane that cannot even mend its wounds or reproduce.

    Psalm 8
    Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

    You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
    the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
    6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
    7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

I've always been fascinated by their eyes. They look so bizarre, I always wonder how the hell do they see??

Very interesting! Which is more likely -- that the octopus is an alien or that human beings are? Good discussion here:

Why do so many of these types of videos end right when they’re starting to ask the really compelling questions?

They are beautiful, yet mysterious creatures. It creeps me out how they are capable of opening and closing jars. 😱

Such a bullshit video. This is it? Where is all the ultraviolet footage gone? What where all those little colored lenses in the camera for? Why where they aligned and produced so terribly in that frontal shot of the lens? Whats the point of these so called ‘inspired scientific videos’ which show ABSOLUTELY NOTHING new??!

The only thing is saw was some colorfull square images that where done with a basic Photoshop filter. Seems either this guy was finessed by that woman into thinking he bought a high end camera or something else is going on.

Whats the fucking point of these videos? Where are all thes wonderfull pictures and videos? Why did it take 8 months to return withe the footage? Why do they need even more time to analyze pictures when you already had 8 months?
